I am on the mailing list one of the pubs in Fareham (between Portsmouth and Southampton) and it is always nice to get their updates in my email.

Our new menu is now here!

Nights are drawing in and summer is over far too soon but all is not lost!
Crisp Autumn days are the perfect time to enjoy the delights on our new menu.

Our brand-new Smoked Haddock Chowder is the ultimate in comfort food, with a touch of curry oil and crunchy Wensleydale croutons. Shepherd’s Pie is a family favourite and we’ve made it extra-luxurious with slowly cooked Confit Duck filling and our buttery mash on the top.

For afters there’s a St Clements Posset, a smooth citrus treat with homemade shortbread biscuits, or our classic Clotted Cream Rice Pudding with a hint of winter spice, sure to conjure images of cosy evenings by the fire.

The Jolly Sailor is one of my sentimental places because I used to come here a lot with my parents and brothers.  Later, I brought my children here, and it became their special place, too.  My second son kayaked here with his former girlfriend on their second date.  In summer, I was here with my family again, for lunch and then a long walk by the river.  Walking on the towpath with my brother and children brought all the happy memories back. I look forward to being home soon for the autumn fires and fallen leaves.

PS. I was very delighted to get three emails from strangers telling me that they read my posts on Places in this website and went to visit my much-loved spots ❤
