One of the best loved pastimes from my childhood is foraging and I am blessed that being a New Forest girl, our forest is full of good stuff.  I went foraging with my partner today and picked some gorgeous green leaves for our salad.  Apart from the well-known dandelion leaves, the edible ones (that I know of) are:

  1. chickweed
  2. clover
  3. wild garlic
  4. herb Robert
  5. chicory

They taste stronger, with a slight bitter aftertaste, and works beautifully with the other bits. Far better than the limp, tasteless salad leaves in plastic bags wilting away in supermarket shelves!
