“We know that in September, we will wander through the warm winds of summer’s wreckage. We will welcome summer’s ghost.” – Heny Rollins
A few weeks back, a friend of mine posted this:
Michelle wasn’t a friend, until I posted a random invite on Facebook. I invited mothers to come to my house and learn how to make pasta from me. Free of charge, but bring these ingredients. It cost me nothing, and I made nothing….except a few new friends that have remained a blessing in my life till this day.
Because years after this momentous pasta-making session, Michelle’s sister Susan rang on my door bell in a different country to deliver some homemade pasta to me. I mean, how amazing is that? Here are the photographs from that session:
Much as I love my partner and my male friends, there is something very special about sisterhood. I have made sure my daughters understand that. That’s another occasion of a bunch of women getting together to cook. Really, when women do that, we are going with the flow of our evolutionary biology, because since time immemorial, women have been getting together to nurture families and bond with each other.
So if you are looking to change your life, start a sisterhood. Here’s a recipe from an old cook book. Get some friends together to make this meaningful cake – make it now and feed it with brandy every few days. By Christmas, it will be ready and wonderfully soaked through with brandy or Cointreau. With love from me ❤
