I have never seen these lovelies before, but as they were going for half price (75p for a bag) at Waitrose Southsea, I took the opportunity to discover something new.
Kalettes, or kale sprouts, are a curious-looking breed. Purplish green, they look like miniature Brussels sprouts with a curly kale outer leaves. The first thing I googled before buying the bag was, are they GMO? No, they are a non-GMO vegetable developed through traditional hybridization and not genetic modification.
